Professor Da’Silva is the Vice-Principal of Arts and Science at St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata. After graduating from St. Xavier’s College he went on to complete his M.A. in English from Calcutta University. Immediately upon completion of his M.A., he joined St. Xavier’s College. Having specialized in American Literature, he was invited to teach as a Guest Lecturer at Calcutta University where he took courses in American Fiction for a number of years. Prof. da Silva has chaired and moderated seminars on English and American Literature. Presently he offers courses in Poetry Appreciation and analysis, Shakespearean drama, and Romantic and Modern Poetry. His courses are designed to stimulate students’ interest by teaching them how to read, think, and be creative and original in their appreciation of works of literature. His courses range beyond literature and take the student into painting and music, history and philosophy, society and culture. Prof. da Silva has contributed to the cultural life of the college having directed plays and conducted the College Choir in winter performances of Christmas and classical music. Head of the English Department from 1999 to 2006 and Dean of Arts from 2006 to 2011, Prof. da Silva is currently the Vice-Principal of Arts and Science, a position which has not curtailed his commitment to teaching or his involvement in department activities.

Dr. Shauvik Roy Chowdhury is a well-known academic leader with more than 23 years of expertise in research, teaching, and academic administration. He is currently employed with Adamas University as the Registrar and Director of the School of Business and the School of Law and Justice. Executive leadership, regulatory correspondence, and compliance management are areas in which Mr. Chowdhury shines. Prior to this, he held important positions at Burdwan University and Amity University, where he made important contributions to administration and education. Proficiency in management principles and organizational behavior has made Mr. Chowdhury a well-known academician.

He has a major influence on the School of Engineering and Technology as the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Adamas University, where he is in charge of innovation, incubation, and startup efforts.

He has a track record of driving strategic planning and streamlining operational procedures in his director responsibilities at Techno International New Town Kolkata and Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, among other leadership positions.
